About Us - from the beginning

We started Ocean Blue Pools, Inc. in 1999. Our youngest daughter had just turned one. Like many, I had a job while my wife took care of the kids. So, leaving a decent paying job to start my own company was certainly scary. My management position at the pool company where I was employed required me to make decisions based on the owner's values which weren't the same as mine. This, along with many hours of praying and my wife's support made it an easier decision. My children would see through my actions that values are who we are and risks with hard work can be rewarding.

We started working "out of the garage". As a new company, we were ready for endless hours and a lot of adjustments to make this work. Most pool builders advertised in the Houston Chronicle and our first Ad was a pool for $ 13,499.00. Inflation sure has changed a lot since then.
We got through our first year. We learned a lot, achieved a lot and one of the funniest things happened; When the phone would ring (yes we had a phone with a cord), Brandi would put her finger in front of her mouth and say, "shh". Our office phone number was at our house and Barbara would always tell Brandi, "shh" when it rang. I guess she learned through those actions. lol On a side note; Y2K went on without a hiccup!
As we got a little busier, we needed an office. We rented an office/warehouse off FM1960 near 249. This gave us the opportunity to have a "showroom" and a place where we didn't have to say, "shh". For our new company, an office space was awesome! We also hired our current General Manager, Lisa. That was a GREAT move. I am a little biased, she's my sister.

Adding the office and the extra employees allowed us to gain more business and our reputation as an honest, fair and quality pool builder started to grow. In the next several years, technology would allow us to move from "pencil drawing designs" to 3D computer aided pool designs and the ability to re-create backyards.

As the years passed, we have kept our core values; customer satisfaction, quality, affordability. Every day I wake up blessed. Although we have had hiccups along the way, we will do everything we can to make you happy. My family truly thanks you for all of your support over the years.

My experience with Ocean Blue Pools has been amazing from start to finish. Baron received my interest email and was at my house the next day. My pool design and quote were to me in less than 24 hours after that. I loved the design and the fact that Baron sent me the quote with the design (some pool companies did not). I also loved working directly with the owner and his wife, they have a true passion to help build the perfect pool for you and are very honest about your upgrade options. I can honestly say that Lisa and the team have been on top of every issue/concern we have had. Being first time pool owner, they were very patient and understanding with us. Ocean Blue Pools did exactly what they said they would do throughout the process. In addition they kept us informed of any changes that needed to be addressed and they were outstanding in working with us to ensure the cost increases were kept within a reasonable amount. Ivan did a great job of managing the overall project and was great at teaching us how to use the equipment and starting up the pool. They built our pool last year and were great to work with. Communication with the owner and the office was excellent. I enjoyed working with them. Baron and his wife spent a long time at my house answering my many questions while some builders just want to get in and out as fast as they could. They were also great at adjusting to my many additions I made along the way: more decking, lighting, electrical outlets and more decking! Ocean Blue has been the best company to work with for my backyard projects. We have had a lot of contractors perform work in our backyard and Ocean Blue is the one that stands way above the rest. They were personally very involved throughout the entire process, and continuously addressed issues I was not even aware I had. Ocean Blue Pools built our family pool almost a year ago. It has turned out great and we have made many memories already. I had 4 other companies bid our pool, and this is who I felt the most comfort with. There were issues that did come up through out the build and afterwards, but every time I did have an issue they did take care of it. In late 2019 we got quotes from three different pool builders. The first two were basically order takers taking everything we said and putting $ values together to provide us with a quote. As you would expect the $ value went over budget quickly.
During our meeting with Ocean Blue Pools we attempted to do the same thing, but this time we got a lot of questions during the design process. Very helpful questions that I believe helped us get exactly what we wanted at the end. Great design, little long term maintenance cost, fully usable pool area, patio, kitchen island w/ sink, pergola, oversize hot tub, beach entry into pool....
They saved us $ and we even got some features that we wouldn't have from the other pool contractors because of the savings on some design features.
They handled everything from permitting, to HOA approval, gas and electrical line relocation, etc. Great communication, no headaches, no stress, and a final product that everyone loves and enjoys on a daily basis. Year round!
